Rick's finished a very impressive first day of recovery and we're all excited to see what day 2 brings us!  He's having his follow up MRI as this message goes out to you all.  Its a routine follow up, so no one worries about the results.  Thanks again to everyone for your support and prayers...they seem to be working!

To quote Gary's favorite film series "May the Force be with you", and it seems to be on your side and working.

OMG-The love and support is overwhelming. I am changing my addiction from Spider Solitaire to RICK'S PLACE. There is no where I would rather be. I am so grateful for all the successes and pray that each moment brings more recovery. I love you all.

jesus rick, i see that even mandy moore is emailing you. check out the email above. ohhhhhhh, i see that it is mindy moore, not mandy moore. hey, that's close. still very impressive.

tami says you are doing well even though you have a bandage turban on your head.
as the most photographed male other than brad pitt and tom cruise, i expect to see some posted photos of the turban look tomorrow.
hope they don't confuse you with al qaeda. (tried to reach you twice by phone w/o success but will keep trying)

The Lapine/Wineburgh girls send our hugs and kisses as well. Jori had some minor head surgery last year & was wrapped up like a mummy!! She said she would like to compare her turban photo's with you Rick!!
xoxoxo we love you Amy, Jori & Sara

If I had just come through 4+ hours of surgery and found myself slurping chicken noodle soup, walking, talking and seeing my beautiful family around me, I'd be smiling too! Actually Rick, you should know that a whole lot of people are smiling tonite, thrilled
and relieved to hear such positively encouraging reports.
We'll keep praying-You keep smiling.
Stay positive & heal fully.
Love, David,Nadine,Gabriel&Jenna

I love the new hat! I assume that it's made of "natural fibers"? As always, you're on the cutting edge of fashion. You must've been a bit disappointed, though, that the "big bear" that showed up wasn't Brian Urhlacher, huh?

Rick, you're looking great, and all of us couldn't be more pleased with the rapid progress toward a complete recovery.

Keep up your amazing attitude and you'll be home before you know it! I, for one, can't wait to be able to give you a big hug. (You know how much I love touching guys!)

Looking forward to more good
news...

Rick...Poffo is on his way to NYC with a suspicious little bag that he wouldn't let me look in and some strawberry massage oil. He says it's "relaxation therapy" but I think it's wierd. He's a little "off", you know? Send him to Katz's for the pastrami sammy and pass on the strawberry surprise!

It is so great to wake up today and see such wonderful pictures of you smiling and of course posing for the camera. My boys, Jason and Evan, are with me and they want to know if the bear had an operation too. We all send our love and I just thought you should know that this is the 1st day in 10 days that the sun is shinning in Chicago! Love, Amy & Family

The CIA had it all wrong. When intelligence sources said Osama was hiding on the west side, we thought they meant Pakistan! Who knew he'd be on Riverside Drive?

Hang in there, Rick! The turban makes you look taller!

Rick,

We love the new headgear, but may we tactfully suggest that Tami is much cuter than your new companion.
Nevertheless, the smile on your face is priceless!

Rick, you are amazing! It's wonderful to see you up and about and smiling already.
Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery.

(Please get home soon. Bruce is still unshaven and refuses to shave until you're home. Yes, he really is following through with his promise.)

With love,
Lisa C.
