First Blog

As many of you probably know, Rick has been diagnosed with a glioblastoma(brain tumor).
We will be posting updates here as so many of his friends and family members are scattered around the world.  PLEASE feel free to post your well wishes here by clicking on the "COMMENTS" link.  These will be printed and read to Rick.  THANK YOU!!

Feb 8 2008

Rick is home for the weekend and will be going into surgery at Sloan Kettering on Monday at 9:30 am.  The surgery should take up to 4 hours and following surgery, he will be in ICU for the night.  The doctors are telling us that he will hopefully go home from the hospital on Friday the 15th.  Linda and Gregg as well as Stacey and Helene will be in on Sunday.  We will be around all weekend - hanging at home if you want to stop by or call.  Please let us know if you are going to come by the house.  Then next week if you could log onto this blog to get updates that would be great - we really appreciate all your love and support!!!

Tami,
I just found out what's going on with Rick from Cheryl Kramer Weitz AND Amy Kirshenbaum gave Denise Tanzman (who you met w/me a couple of months ago)this Blog information to give to me.

My boss's wife had a Brain Tumor over 5 years ago and went to see Dr. Friedman at Duke. She is now living a wonderful life...cancer free.

My boss' name is Scott McCune (from The Coca-Cola Company). Please feel free to use Scott's name as a connection point w/Dr. Friedman -he is very friendly with Dr. Friedman. Dr. Friedman has even emailed me about Final Four/Duke and his daughter's AAU Team at the Women's Final Four.

I have Dr. Friedman's email address and would love to have you talk to my Boss---when you are ready-about Dr. Friedman and any questions that you or Rick might have.

Please call me if you want any additional information 404.676.6207 or email me at dgerson@na.ko.com.

Rick,
Normally I would tell you that I am just THRILLED that you are feeling better, speaking in your typical elequent style while still using the most elaborate vocabulary I can't understand and taking enough pills to make you "feel" good but instead I think that I have an alternate use for this blog as follows:

Dottie, it was so nice to see your note to Rick and I really FEEL for your concern. Maybe we should get together and console each other over a couple of drinks. I think that might just help US get over these horrible times. I shall get a suite at the Four Seasons and martini's at 57/57 might help us FEEL better. Dottie, dear, I really do FEEL your pain. Please let me know how I can be there for you and you can respond directly to me on this blog.

Rick, you are the best!!!!!!!
Love always,
POFFO
